Former Hackensack standout, Bright Mensah scored a career high 33 points to lead the Pioneers to the 78-74 conference win. Trailing 21-19 with just under seven and a half minutes to play in the first half, William Paterson went on a 12-1 tear over a span of 3:11 to take a 31-22 lead.
The run was ignited by a three point play by Richy Espinal followed by three pointers from Mensah, Manny Hernandez, and Zack Frick. In the second half, Montclair State rallied to tie the game. Trailing 62-52 following a WPU three by former Piscataway Tech standout, Galen Smith with 8:37 remaining, Montclair State put together a 15-5 tear over the next 6:36 to tie the score at 67-67 with just over two minutes to play. Shaun Russell, Erick Loften-Harris (team high 18 points), and Jordan Roberson (13 points and 15 rebounds) led the charge for MSU.
