Raritan Bay Summer League–Results–June 10, 2016

South River JV Avenges Opening Day Loss

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Friday night, GMC Hoops traveled out to South Amboy High School to take in the final night of week one action at the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League. There were three games on tap with two of the contests being rematches from games played earlier in the week.

The featured game for GMC Hoops was a JV contest involving South RIver and the Heat. These two teams, which played down to the wire on opening day before the Heat won, 29-28, battled to the buzzer again, but this time South River emerged victorious. Led by Hunter Nemeth, Silvio Cruz, Kenny Cross, Travis Thomas, Ishmael Abass-Shereef, the Rams jumped out to a 7-2 lead early, and then exchanged runs with the Heat in an up and down and back and forth battle.

The JV Rams then seemed to have the game in hand after making a couple technical foul shots with 2:17 remaining, and putting in a layup with 1:21 left for a 43-36 lead, but the Heat rallied back to tie the game with a 7-1 spurt capped by a layup with under a minute to play, and then a floater that got a kind bounce with 11.5 seconds remaining in regulation. South River managed to pull out the win though after making two free throws with 7.3 seconds remaining, and the Heat missing a last second shot. Below are all the results from Friday night action:
