Here are highlights from the action in Ranney’s win over Rumson-Fair Haven in the finale of the tripleheader in week one of the 2016 MSC Summer League being run at the Ranney School in Tinton Falls.
In the nightcap of the Monroe Sports Center Summer League’s tripleheader at the Ranney School, the home team Panthers took on Rumson Fair-Haven in a clash of two teams from the Shore Conference. Using its three point shooting, getting back on defense, and forcing Ranney to play more of a half court game and shoot jump shots, Rumson-Fair Haven, led by the shooting of Jack Solano, actually led 14-10 midway through the first half.
However, Ranney was able to end the opening half on a 19-5 run that included a three point play and a couple of dunks by Scottie Lewis to take a 29-19 lead, and then withstood a Rumson-Fair Haven 15-9 rally to pull within four at 38-34. The Panthers finished the game on a 7-2 run including a dunk by Bryan Antoine to come away with a 45-36 victory. Ranney went 4-0 in the games it played over the two days of MSC Summer League action while Rumson and Lakewood went 1-1, and Monroe and Spotswood finished up 0-2.
