Here are highlights from the last 6:39 of action in the Central Jersey Jayhawks win over Roselle in week three of the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League.
In the first of three games at the Raritan Bay Summer League at South Amboy Middle-High School on Friday night, the Central Jersey Jayhawks and the Running Rams of Roselle got entangled in quite a donnybrook.
Playing without the likes of Sean Kudelka and Kieran Hodder, Jayhawks led 46-39 with 6:39 remaining, but Roselle rallied with an 8-3 run that included a couple layups and a putback for a 49-45 lead with two minutes to play. Jordan Wells got two of the points during the stretch for the Jayhawks with a transition layup for a 48-41 lead.
Nevertheless, the Jayhawks, which lost to the Colts on opening night in a previous game covered by GMC Hoops, were able to prevail thanks to a huge three point play from Alex Santiago with about a minute and a half to play, and then a breakaway layup from Derek Astarita in the final 30 seconds for the 54-47 win.
