In the nightcap of the tripleheader in the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League on Friday night, the Heat took on Monsignor Farrell in a contest from the JV division at South Amboy Middle-High School. Breaking away from a 16-12 lead midway through the first half, Farrell scored 14 of the next 16 points to take a 30-14 lead late in the first half.
However, the Heat got going again with a 7-4 run to end the first half, and a 21-7 tear to begin the second half for a 28-11 surge over a span of 10:21 to take a 42-41 lead with 11:26 remaining. The Heat’s lead wouldn’t last long though as the Lions on Monsignor Farrell from Staten Island put together a decisive 13-5 spurt over the next 7:56 for a 54-47 lead. The Lions were then able to hang on for a 58-53 win.
