Here are highlights from the action in Metuchen’s win over Manville on day five of the 2016 Bound Brook Summer League at the Bound Brook Recreation Center.
On Wednesday night, Metuchen finished the third week of action at the 2016 Bound Brook Summer League with a contest against Manville in the nightcap of the GMC Hoops tripleheader at the Bound Brook Recreation Center. The Bulldogs behind Danny Flaherty got off to a hot start against the Mustangs.
Over the first 8:28 of the contest, Metuchen jumped out to a 16-4 lead as Flaherty scored 8 points including layups at the 11:47 and 11:32 mark to cap the Bulldogs early spree. However, Manville wouldn’t go away. Instead, the Mustangs put together a 9-7 run to close the half, and then pulled within single digits with an 8-2 spurt over a span of 3:35, and 4-1 run over a span of 1:49 to narrow the deficit to 40-35 with 7:15 to go.
Thankfully, Metuchen was able to emerge victorious by scoring 11 of the last 14 points including the final seven points as Flaherty and Thomas Christine scored layups late to finish off the 51-38 victory over Manville.
