Here are final cut highlights from the action from the overtime of Roselle’s win over St. Joseph’s by the sea to end the fifth week of action at the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League.
In the third game of the Friday night tripleheader at the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League, Roselle battled St. Joseph’s by the Sea from Staten Island in a contest from the high school division. The game was a real nailbiter as Roselle tied the game at 39-39 on a score with 7 seconds left in regulation.
In the overtime, St. Joseph’s by the Sea scored first by scoring on a layup right off the tip for a 41-39 lead. Roselle then took the lead for good at 42-41 by scoring on its first possession of the extra session when it connected on a three pointer from the right wing at the 1:42 mark. The Runnin’ Rams then forced a steal, and drew a foul that resulted in two free throws for a 44-41 lead with a minute and a half to play.
The Vikings then drew a foul on a layup attempt and made one of two from the foul line with 1:19 to play to close the gap to 44-42, but were unable to get any closer as Roselle netted two free throws down the stretch to finish off the 46-42 victory.
