Raritan Bay Summer League–Some Results–July 14, 2016

South River Wins While South Amboy Falls

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Thursday afternoon, GMC Hoops traveled out to South Amboy Middle-High School to take in some of the action at the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League.

In the first game, South River took on Monsignor Farrell or Staten Island, and in what was perhaps the best game of the summer at Raritan Bay, both the Rams and Lions went back and forth with neither team having a lead bigger than two or three points the whole game before South River came away with the one point win.

Then, in the second game, South Amboy took on the Academy of Urban Leadership from Perth Amboy. While the Guvs were playing without four of its starters, the Jaguars played a much better game than it did against Koinonia Academy last Friday night. Knocking down the three point shot and winning the battle on the boards, AUL was able to put together a 14-0 run to turn a 9-7 deficit into a 21-9 lead.

South Amboy was able to claw back to within eight at 29-21 early in the second half, but couldn’t get any closer as the Jaguars of AUL put together a 17-7 spurt including eight unanswered points to take a 46-28 lead, and then added a 6-1 burst to pull away from a 47-35 lead with 5:05 left to come away with a 14 point win. Below are the scores from the two games played this evening at Raritan Bay:
