GMC Players Do Well in Wednesday Doubleheader at JSBL

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ–After being at Linden earlier in the afternoon, GMC Hoops took a long drive down Route 18 South to Wall Township High School to see the Wednesday night doubleheader in the 2016 Jersey Shore Basketball League.

The Greater Middlesex Conference was well represented on Wednesday as Jimbo Long, Connor Klementowicz, and Sultan Aminu led the NJ Tarheels against Mike Brunson of T & T Coast while Brandon Hall led Team Shore against Larson Ford. The NJ Tarheels were able to lead at the half, 48-44 after a three pointer from the left wing by Long with time running out in the second period.

Former St. John Vianney standout, Zach Howarth took over in the third by knocking down threes, getting to the basket for layups, and getting to the line. Howarth scored with time running out in the third to cap a 32 point effort by the NJ Tarheels for an 80-70 lead heading into the fourth. However, the bruising combination of T & T Coast’s Justin Leith and Chris Hendershot proved to be too much.

Leith and Hendershot sprearheaded a 40-17 surge in the fourth quarter with three pointers, dunks, and a tough power game that the NJ Tarheels had no answer for to post a 13 point victory. The second game had a bit of delay, but eventually started a little after 9:00 PM. Former Colonia standout and current Woodbridge assistant coach, Brandon Hall opened the game with a steal for a layup, and later added a couple free throws and a three for Team Shore.

It wouldn’t be enough though as former Linden High School and Kean University standout, Jonathan Jones joined forces with Dan Singleton and former Don Bosco Prep standout, and current East Stroudsburg University player, Dajon Todmann to put together a 12-0 first quarter run, and eventually come away with an 18 point victory. Below are the results from both games:
