In the sixth game of the day at the 2017 Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout at Montgomery High School, top ranked Woodbridge took on Immaculata of Somerville. The Barrons took double digit leads at several points in the game only to have the Spartans rally to pull within one.
Each time though, Woodbridge was able to respond with a key run to pull away and keep Immaculata from taking the lead. The first time occurred in the first half after the Spartans pulled within one at 20-19 with 4:01 remaining in the second period. The Barrons ended the half on a 9-0 run including two threes by Kemari Persol for a 29-19 halftime lead.
Then, in the second half, Immaculata rallied from a 48-37 deficit with a 14-4 tear to pull within one at 52-51 with just under four minutes to play. Once again, Woodbridge didn’t cave in as it finished the game on a 12-0 run sparked by a three from Keshaun Henry and highlighted by scores from Hura Blaine and Quran Robinson for a 64-51 victory.
Woodbridge opened the game with a 20-10 showing in the first period as Robinson netted four three pointers. Harry Rutkowski also contributed with a score while Keshaun Henry added a layup off a steal and a pair of free throws.
