EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ–On Tuesday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to East Brunswick High School to take in the GMC Red contest between the Bears and top ranked and unbeaten St. Joseph’s.
Trailing 22-17 with under two minutes to go in the first half, St. Joseph’s scored the last four points of the second period, and 7 of the first 9 points of the third for an 11-2 spurt and a 28-24 lead.
Freshmen Richard Greaves and Tyree Taganeca-Ford were at the center of the scoring towards the end of the first half as Greaves made a nice stutter step move for a jumper from the left elbow while Taganeca-Ford scored in transition to close the gap to 22-21 at the intermission.
Letrell West sparked the early third quarter run with a three pointer from the right wing to give the Falcons the led for good. St. Joe’s led by as many as 13 on a couple of occasions late in the fourth before winning the contest, 54-42.
Greaves finished with a game high 19 points including 10 of 13 from the free throw line. West chipped in with 15 while Taganeca-Ford added 9. Dante Ralph led East Brunswick in a losing cause with 19 points. Below are game notes from the action:

4:19 left in 1st qtr and East Brunswick leads Joe’s 6-3 on a Joe Sampson short jumper from the left side. Bears on a 4-0 run after a Tyree Taganeca-Ford three gave Joes a 3-2 lead. Dante Ralph has the other four points for EB.
1:55 left in first qtr and East Brunswick takes a 10-8 lead on a Jesse Perel short jumper from the right lane.

0:00–End of the first half and East Brunswick leads St. Joe’s 22-21 thanks to a Brandon Rosenthal trey from the right corner. Joe’s ended the half on a 4-0 run including stutter step move for a jumper from the left elbow by Richard Greaves and a transition layup by Tyree Taganeca-Ford.
Third Quarter
5:23 left in 3rd and Joe’s takes a 28-24 lead with 7-2 run sparked by a Letrell West trey from the right wing. Richard Greaves also added a score.
2:23 left in 3rd and East Brunswick stays within two at 31-29 on a Mitchell Pingoy trey from the left wing off a Jesse Perel kickout.
0:00–End of 3rd and Joe’s ends frame on an 8-0 run for a 39-29 lead.
Fourth Quarter
4:30 left and East Brunswick trying to get back into it with a putback by Dante Ralph off a missed FT for 41-33 Joe’s lead. Bears open final period on a 4-2 run.

2:14 left in 4th & East Brunswick pulls within 44-35 after Dante Ralph battles through a double team for a score underneath.
