Former St. Joe’s Hoops Player Owens A Solid Playmaker At Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA–Former St. Joseph’s Falcon Lester Owens has become quite a playmaker at Arcadia University. The senior guard from Manalapan, has played and started in every game for the Knights. Through seven games, he is averaging just under 29 minutes per contest, 2.7 points per game, 4.7 assists per game (leads team), and 2.4 rebounds per game. He also leads the team in assist to turnover ratio with 1.5. So far this season, Arcadia is 2-5 overall including an 0-1 mark in the Commonwealth Conference.

After graduation from St. Joseph’s in 2006, Owens landed at Mount St. Vincent College, and as a sophomore, he was among the NCAA leaders in assists and assist to turnover ratio. In 2007-08, the Dolphins were 9-16 overall including a 6-12 mark in the Skyline Conference. Owens ended up only playing eight games that season with 3.3 points per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, and 6.4 assists per game. As a freshman at Mount St. Vincent, he played in all 25 games during the 2006-07 season and started in 24 of them. He averaged 30 minutes per game, 5.7 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game while having an assist to turnover ratio of 1.7.

At St. Joseph’s, Owens was teammates with the likes of Andrew Bynum of the L.A. Lakers, and 1,000 point scorers Sean Baptiste and Kenny Widgeon. Widgeon and Owens were teammates at Mount St. Vincent for the 2007-08 campaign.
