Quite A Race Already Developing In The GMC Red

PISCATAWAY, NJ–We’ve got quite a race developing here in the GMC Red now that Piscataway was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten by Perth Amboy on Tuesday night. Looking at the latest standings, there are five teams in the division tied for first place at 3-1. They are: Piscataway, Perth Amboy, East Brunswick, St. Joseph’s, and South Brunswick. Old Bridge (1-3), Colonia (0-4), and J.P. Stevens (0-4) bring up the rear. All five of the first place teams are ranked in the top nine of the latest GMC Hoops Top Ten with P-Way at #1, EB at #2, St. Joe’s at #3, Amboy at #5, and South Brunswick at #9.

Right now, four of these teams have very deep squads with St. Joseph’s looking to add more depth later on this month when Monroe transfer Danny Brix becomes eligible after sitting his 30 days, and Kevin Waitikowich returns from injury. Coming into the season, the Red Division appeared to be the toughest from top to bottom with Colonia moving up from the White, and a ton of young talent returning from last season. Combined, the teams in the division are 4-3 in crossover games so far this season, and 8-3 against foes from outside the Greater Middlesex Conference.
