Winter Of Discontent Continues

Ice Storm Warning In Effect For Middlesex County As Boys Schedule Takes Another Hit

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Been following the latest with this winter storm. There had been a Winter Storm Warning in effect for few inches of snow along with some ice accumulation, but that has changed. As of the time of this posting, the National Weather Service Office in Mount Holly had changed the advisory to an Ice Storm Warning. A significant ice accumulation is expected across Central Jersey by Wednesday morning.

As a result, the schedule has been affected once again with at least six postponements as well as a couple of contests being moved up. There may be some more cancellations tomorrow. The storm warning is in effect until Wednesday afternoon. Here are all the schedule changes as of early this afternoon:

  • Old Bridge at Piscataway, 3:45 PM
  • Perth Amboy at St. Joseph’s, 4:00 PM
  • J.P. Stevens at Colonia–Postponed
  • East Brunswick at South Brunswick–Postponed
  • Monroe at Woodbridge–Postponed
  • Henry Hudson at Wardlaw-Hartridge–Postponed
  • Metuchen at Cranford–Postponed
  • South Plainfield at North Brunswick–Postponed; Will be made up on 2/5

This is the seventh time this season that some form of winter weather has forced the cancellation and rescheduling of at least one GMC game. Games on both Wednesday and Thursday last week were postponed. As a result, the NJSIAA has extended the state cutoff from this coming Saturday to next Monday. Oh by the way, there may be another winter storm on Saturday, but let’s get through this storm first.
