Colonia’s Hall Contributes To St. Peter’s College Success In 2010-11

Former Patriots Standout Helps Peacocks To First MAAC Title And NCAA Bid Since 1994-95 Season

JERSEY CITY, NJ–This year’s edition of NCAA’s March Madness had a couple of New Jersey participants in them as the Peacocks of St. Peter’s College, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, won its conference tourney, and earned an automatic NCAA bid along with Ivy League Champion, Princeton. While the Tigers gave fourth seeded Kentucky a scare in the second round, the Peacocks had a great run halted by third seeded Purdue out of the Big Ten in the second round based in Chicago.

The Peacocks, which defeated Iona for the MAAC title, earned its first conference championship, and NCAA bid since the 1994-95 season. With a 20-14 overall record, St. Peter’s had its first 20 win season since going 24-7 in the 1990-91 season, which ended up with the school’s first ever NCAA bid. GMC Hoops had an opportunity to see the Peacocks in action back in December against Rutgers, and they gave the Scarlet Knights all that they could handle before losing. The Peacocks were stocked with several top players from New Jersey High Schools including: Ryan Bacon and Yvon Raymond of Columbia, Wesley Jenkins of Bloomfield Tech, Jordan Costner of Seton Hall Prep, and former GMC standout, Brandon Hall of Colonia.

Hall, who helped lead Colonia to the 2006 Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Championship, and the 2007 North Jersey Section 2 Group III Championship, played in 29 games including four that he started. In those 29 contests, Hall, a junior at SPC, averaged 12.1 minutes per game, 0.7 points per game, 1.0 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, and 0.8 steals per game while having an assist to turnover ratio of 2.3. Besides being 20-14 overall, St. Peter’s was 11-7 in conference play. Leading the team in assist to turnover ratio this season, Hall also had a season high of 5 points, third on the team in assists, and was fifth on the team in free throw shooting percentage.

As a sophomore, Hall played in all 30 games including four starts in 2009-10, and was second on the team in assists and fifth in steals. In his freshman season at St. Peter’s, Hall also played in all 30 games including six starts. He led the team in assists, and was actually 11th in the MAAC in that category. He is majoring in education, and has indicated an interest in coaching basketball after college.
