Colonia’s Rosen Selected To First Team All Ivy League

Former Patriots Standout Leads Penn With Solid Season To Earn League Honors

PHILADELPHIA, PA–It has been a big year for former Colonia players. While former teammate Brandon Hall was making contributions to the first conference championship and NCAA bid for St. Peter’s College since the 1994-95 season, Zach Rosen continued to make waves in the Ivy League. Earlier this month, GMC Hoops learned that Rosen was selected to the first team All Ivy League for the second year in a row.

According to the article at Penn Athletics.com, Rosen became the 17th player at the University of Pennsylvania to be a first team selection to the All Ivy League team more than once. This past season, Rosen played and started in all 28 games for the Quakers. The junior guard averaged 36.7 minutes per game, shot just under 45 percent from the floor overall including 42 percent from three point range, and connected on 79 percent of his foul shots. Rosen averged a team leading 14.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 5.4 assists per game, 1.3 steals per game, and had an assist to turnover ratio of just over 2 to 1.

This past season, Penn was 13-15 overall including a 7-7 mark in Ivy League play. The Quakers finished fourth behind Princeton and Harvard this season in the league standings. In conference play, Rosen was 12th in scoring, and second in assists per game while finishing in the top five in other league statistical categories. His total assists mark of 152 this year was a career best, and fourth best at the school. Rosen also recorded a major milestone by scoring his 1,000th career point this past season. Other players on the UPenn squad from the GMC this season included reserves Darren Smith (South Plainfield) and Steve Rennard (St. Joseph’s).
