Here are most of the video highlights from the first quarter of action in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament Quarterfinal game between 9th seeded Monroe and top seeded St. Joseph’s. The St. Joe’s Falcons had some struggles in this contest, but all five of its starters played the full 32 minutes, and four of them scored in double figures in a 59-41 victory.
Monroe trailed 42-34 with only 6:08 to go in the contest, but St. Joe’s finished the game with a 17-7 run. Danny Brix led the Green Birds with 16 points while Karim Awad chipped in with 14 points. Freshman Karl Towns added 11 while Jimbo Long scored 10. Ryan Genevieve led Monroe in a losing cause with 20 points.
