GMC Hoops Game Notes–#4 J.F. Kennedy vs. #3 St. Joe’s-Green–Consolation–February 21, 2013

PERTH AMBOY, NJ–In the consolation game of the Championship Doubleheader in the 2013 Perth Amboy/GMC Freshmen Tournament, third seeded St. Joseph’s-Green, and fourth seeded J.F. Kennedy went at it in quite a battle. Neither team had a lead bigger than five points throughout the contest while there were 9 lead changes and 9 ties. Late in the third quarter, St. Joe’s-Green led 41-36 before Kennedy closed the game with a 13-8 run that included four points each by Nick Keane and Giovanni Johnson to tie the game up at 49-49 at the end of regulation. Then, in overtime, the Mustang Colts outscored the Little Falcons by a margin of 9-5 as Josh Buchholz scored three points while Keane, Rocky Prakyia, and Mohi Mia chipped in with two each for the 58-54 win. First Quarter

St. Joseph’s took a 5-2 lead early in the game before Kennedy went on a 9-4 run to take an 11-9 lead. St. Joe’s got a jumper from the right corner by Brendan Moreau, and then a layup underneath by Jose Medina to take a 13-11 lead before JFK tied it with a basket. The Little Falcons took a 16-13 lead into the second on a three from the right wing by John Walton in the waning moments of the period.
