Here is slideshow of photos taken from the action between Cardinal McCarrick and Bishop Ahr in a week one contest at the BGA in North Edison. It was a renewal of a fierce rivalry between these non-publics from the GMC when McCarrick came to town several days before Christmas. However, the Eagles broke away from an 11-8 lead by outscoring Ahr in each of the final three periods to post a 56-32 victory.
Ralph Menar led the way for McCarrick with a team high 15 points and 6 rebounds including 12 points in the second quarter on four field goals, a three, and a foul shot to help the Eagles lead by double digits before going into the locker room ahead 30-21 at the half. Forward, Santiago Dervishaj added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Tom Weiler led Bishop Ahr with a game high 18 points including 13 in the first half, 10 of which came in the final 3:48 of the second quarter.
McCarrick improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in GMC Blue play with the win while Ahr dropped to 1-1 in both divisional and overall play. McCarrick now already has half as many wins as all of last year, and all three victories have been by double figures with the average margin of victory being 24 points per game.
