Weather Starting to Create Havoc with Tuesday’s State Tourney Schedule

Latest Winter Storm Forcing Games To Be Either Moved Up Earlier or Postponed to Tomorrow

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–The last month and a half of the Winter of 2014-15 has been quite brutal on the Garden State, and Tuesday will be no exception. Another storm is expected to bring between 1 to 3 inches of snow this afternoon and early evening before changing over to sleet and freezing rain, and then all rain overnight into Wednesday. Then, on Wednesday night into Thursday, the temperature is supposed to drop, and the rain is supposed to change back over to snow. So, to make a long story short, there could be a bit of chaos in terms of the various state tourney schedules over the next few days, especially, if you are playing in any of the Group I, Group III, and Non-Public A tournaments.

Already some changes have occurred. Colonia’s opening round game against West Morris Central in the North Jersey Section 2 Group III state tournament, which was scheduled for 7:00 PM this evening, has been moved up to 4:00 PM in anticipation of the storm, which is expected to move in with full force during the evening commute. St. Joseph’s opening round playoff contest against Bishop Eustace in the Non-Public A South state tourney has also been moved up from 7:00 PM tonight to 4:00 PM this afternoon. Bishop Ahr’s game against Camden Catholic, also in Non-Public A South, has been pushed up to 5:00 PM. Meanwhile, another contest in the same bracket, Immaculata and Red Bank Catholic has been postponed until tomorrow since RBC was scheduled to have a girls state playoff game start at 5:00 PM followed by the boys at 7:00 PM tonight.

These are just some of the changes that have been announced within the past hour. Expect more changes to occur as the weather conditions deteriorate during the afternoon. Please follow the GMC Hoops facebook page, or twitter feed @gmchoops for updates on the weather cancellations and changes.
