EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ–In the first game of the GMC Hoops tripleheader at the 2016 East Brunswick Team Camp on Tuesday, Bishop Ahr and Monroe went at it in a contest played in the Lower Gym. The game was close throughout much of the first half before Monroe pulled away from a 15-13 lead with an 11-6 run to end the half for a 26-19 halftime.
Monroe increased its lead to nine on a couple of occasions in the second half before the Trojans of BGA made it interesting. Bishop Ahr trailed by nine at 38-29 before putting together a 9-3 spurt highlighted by a Sean Kudelka three point play and a Matt Pangniban layup to close within three.
However, Matt Hoyt netted a clutch three from the left corner for Monroe, and the Falcons made eight free throws down the stretch to seal the double digit win over the Trojans. Hoyt, Hassan Reid, and Eric Johnson all sank free throws down the stretch for Monroe in the win. Below are game notes from the action:
