Raymond Fires Carteret Past South Plainfield, 65-35

Ramblers Sweep Season Series With Tigers

CARTERET, NJ–For the second time this season, the Carteret Ramblers rolled past South Plainfield in a GMC Blue clash. Kahir Raymond scored a game high 20 points including three treys while forward Isaiah Daniels-Porter chipped in with a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 65-35 victory on Wednesday afternoon in Carteret.

Jemar Jordan, Judah Pascal, and Zamar Brake each chipped in with 8 points while Jordan collected 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Pascal picked up 5 rebounds, an assist, and a block, and Brake tallied 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a blocked shot.

Deshai Smith led South Plainfield in a losing cause with 9 points while Dondre Tate chipped in with 8 and both Dylan O’Connor and Will McLaughlin added 6. Carteret outscored South Plainfield 12-6 from beyond the arc and 50-24 from within the arc. The Tigers had a 5-3 edge in free throws made.

As a team, Carteret collected 39 rebounds, 18 assists, 12 steals, and two blocked shots. Seven different players scored for the Ramblers while six got in the books for South Plainfield. The victory was Carteret’s fourth straight after losing to Perth Amboy on January 9th.

With the win, Carteret improved to 12-2 overall including a 9-1 mark in the GMC and an unblemished 8-0 record in the Blue Division. South Plainfield, which registered wins over Metuchen and Middlesex last week to snap an eight game losing streak, dropped to 3-9 overall, 3-6 in conference, and 3-5 in divisional play.

Both teams return to action later this week with the Ramblers hosting North Brunswick of the GMC White in a crossover contest on Friday at 5:30 PM while South Plainfield visits J.P. Stevens of the GMC Red in another crossover on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
