Here are highlights of the action in the 2014 GMCT Play-In round game between 26th seeded Dunellen of the Gold Division and 23rd seeded Cardinal McCarrick of the White Division at McCarrick HS. The Eagles jumped out to a 30-22 lead in the first half on 10 first half points by Pop Brown and scoring from senior Sky Harris. However, Dunellen took advantage of a 10-4 edge in team fouls on McCarrick, and went to the line while stepping up defensive pressure to put together a 9-0 run to end the half for a 31-30 lead at the break.
The game remained close for the second half with Dunellen having a 56-54 lead late before Brown, a freshman, who ended up with a game high 25 points, fired in a three pointer for the lead with 13.8 seconds left, and then sealed the game with two free throws for the 59-56 victory. Harris ended up with 17 points and 16 rebounds while big man Santiago Derdishaj chipped in with 12 boards and 4 blocks. Nick Petrozelli led Dunellen in a losing cause with 16 points while David Johnson added 14.
