
Old Bridge’s Marilyn Togun (12 points) and South Brunswick’s Madison Rorie (22 points) were chosen GMC Hoops Players of the Game in the contest between the Lady Knights and the Lady Vikings in Old Bridge on January 5th.
GMC Hoops saw some girls basketball action on January 5th. In the nightcap of the two games covered, Old Bridge pulled away in the second half from South Brunswick.
The Lady Knights pulled away from a 15-15 tie at the intermission with a 29-15 second-half surge for the GMC crossover victory. Jessica Lane (11 points) and Payton Kmiec (8 points) combined for five three-pointers, while Marilyn Tolgun collected a double-double of a game-high 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Amira Farag also contributed with a game-high 14 rebounds and all four of her points at the start of the third quarter that put Old Bridge up 19-15. Madison Rorie led all scorers with a game-high 22 points in a losing cause for South Brunswick. Both Togun and Rorie were selected as GMC Hoops Players of the Game.
Old Bridge: Marilyn Togun
The Old Bridge junior forward led a balanced scoring attack with a double-double of a team-high 12 points and 11 rebounds. Togun, who scored her 12 points on four field goals and four foul shots, also collected 7 steals and 2 blocked shots in the 44-30 victory. The Lady Knights broke away from a 15-15 tie at the intermission with a 29-15 surge in the second half for the win. So far this season, Togun is averaging 9.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
South Brunswick: Madison Rorie
Rorie, a junior guard, was a bright spot in defeat for the Lady Vikings. She scored a game-high 22 points on 9 total field goals, including a three-pointer, and 3 of 4 from the foul line. Her performance against Old Bridge marked the sixth time she scored in double figures this season. It was the fourth time Rorie scored at least 20 points in a game this season. So far in 2025-26, Rorie is averaging 16.6 points per game to lead South Brunswick in scoring.
